Many of us think sticking to a healthy routine requires sheer willpower. But what we often call willpower is really just the result of forming habits. Those cultivating good habits rarely deal with procrastination because autopilot kicks in over time, turning tasks into a routine. 

No need for mind games or willpower – it just happens because it's part of your routine. Take brushing your teeth or showering daily, for example. You don't have to convince yourself; it's a routine built through repetition.

Habits play a big role in shaping our attitudes, actions, and decision-making, influencing every aspect of our lives. The key difference between a habit and a routine is awareness. 

Both involve regular, repeated actions, but habits run automatically, while routines are intentional. Building a routine, like a yoga practice, requires purposeful action, effort, and mindfulness.

Define Clear Goals:

Set specific goals, outlining the frequency and duration to guide your strategy. Avoid vague objectives like "practice canna yoga consistently" and instead opt for detailed goals, such as "I'll practice yoga for 30 minutes a day, four times a week."

Create a Detailed Plan:
Develop a detailed, prompt-based plan specifying when, where, and how you'll integrate yoga into your routine. Schedule it on your calendar and set reminders to stay on track.

Make it Enjoyable: 
Research suggests that making your routine enjoyable increases success. Focus on finding ways to make the experience positive, turning your goal pursuit into a source of pleasure.

Allow for Flexibility:
During the startup phase, incorporate some flexibility into your routine. Have a plan A and plan B for days when life interrupts, ensuring you can still follow through with consistency.

Seek Social Support:
Connect with people in the community who have advanced in their yoga journey. Learning with and getting inspired by those who have achieved similar goals can make the process more enjoyable.

Control Your Environment:
Ensure your surroundings support your routine changes. Schedule dedicated time and connect with like-minded individuals for encouragement.

Avoid overwhelming yourself by trying to change too much simultaneously. Focus on changing one behavior at a time, taking small steps to build new habits.

Be patient and consistent in repeating the actions. It takes time to form a new routine, so practice a little every day. Remember, it can take between 18 to 254 days to establish a new habit.
